Mission
We are the pioneers of Selective Mutism. The organization was founded by 2 parents in 1991 who were responsible for the change in name from Elective Mutism to Selective Mutism and the diagnostic criteria in the DSM since 1994 and for providing participants for the 2 largest legitimately published research studies in the USA. All information on Selective Mutism stems from this organization.

Our mission is to promote legitimate research, appropriate interventions at reasonable costs to families, advocacy, social acceptance, and the understanding of Selective Mutism as a debilitating social anxiety disorder.
Program Description
The website provides information on Selective Mutism, DSM information/graph, appropriate treatment, school issues, Social Security information, and much more.
