Mission
The Coalition for Court Access strives to promote equal access to justice for all Indiana residents by facilitating the integration and coordination of existing services; fostering the development of new civil legal aid and pro bono programs; supporting and improving the quality of existing civil legal aid and pro bono programs; fostering the growth of a public service culture within the Indiana Bar which values pro bono publico service; promoting the ongoing development of financial and other resources for civil legal aid organizations in Indiana; and enabling Indiana attorneys to discharge their professional responsibility to provide pro bono services.
Program Description
The Coalition for Court Access is administered by the Indiana Bar Foundation and consists of 17 members appointed by the Indiana Supreme Court and the Indiana Bar Foundation. The Coalition members are appointed pursuant to Indiana Rule of Professional Conduct 6.6 and together, they have the responsibility of allocating IOLTA funds to the 12 District Pro Bono Committees in Indiana. A trial judge from one of the counties in each Indiana district chairs and appoints the District Committee. District Committees submit an annual report and plan that addresses the unmet legal needs in their community.
