"ADEC proudly advocates for and serves people with developmental and intellectual disabilities so they live lives full of choice and possibility."

ADEC boasts 65 years of providing excellent services for individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability residing in Indiana’s Elkhart or St. Joseph counties.

ADEC provides numerous services for adults and children including after-school, summer camp, day programs, vocational training, group homes, client-led coffee shops, transportation, job placement and guardianship. Each of these programs uniquely responds to a need within the community.

ADEC employs more than 400 employees in 21 locations to provide supports to more than 1,000 clients and families annually.

ADEC’s commitment to lives of choice and possibility becomes doubly important when it comes to children. From the first diagnosis,

ADEC works with parents to navigate available services, enhance understanding and expand the amount of possibilities available to each child, and it doesn’t end there.

ADEC’s Family Services program encompasses a wide range of supports from providing much-needed after-school and summer camp programs to hosting a monthly sibling support group.

Parents rely on ADEC to assist in preparing their children to be successful adults.
Program Description
Caring and highly trained staff within ADEC's Family Services are committed to working with your family to ensure the best possible development and community involvement for your child. For children, this is accomplished through offering summer camp, after school care, transitions, parental assistance for waivers and services, a sibling support group, autism services, a game group for young adults and music and recreational therapies.

ADEC also provides a wide array of services for adults with developmental disabilities, including supported employment, day services, residential services, and protective/legal services.

ADEC is a not-for-profit agency receiving funding through grants, donations and state funded services. Almost all the services ADEC provides are governed by a state agency, which determines eligibility for services and controls the admissions process for such services. Some services require a family to be eligible for a Medicaid Waiver and have a case manager (visit for more information).
