The mission of the Early Childhood Center is to advance early education practices that welcome, include, and bring about successful school readiness practices for all children. To implement our mission, we work to link research and practice in advancing the field of early education by providing leadership and assistance to agencies, organizations, and communities serving all young children (birth through five years), including children with disabilities, and their families.
Program Description
Our current projects include evaluating the Early Education Matching Grant (EEMG), evaluating Indiana’s First Steps program, analyzing ISTAR-KR data for school readiness, promoting effective family engagement and transition practices, developing an intervention for preschool chronic absenteeism and conducting research related to inclusion and universal design. We also develop and deliver products including professional development, webinars, podcasts, briefing papers, booklets, tip sheets, and websites that inform and guide early educators, trainers, students, policymakers, families, consumers, and the public.
