TASH's focus is on those people with disabilities who:

  • Are most at risk for being excluded from the mainstream of society;
  • Are perceived by traditional service systems as being most challenging;
  • Are most likely to have their rights abridged;
  • Are most likely to be at risk for living, working, playing, and/or learning in segregated environments;
  • Are least likely to have the tools and opportunities necessary to advocate on their own behalf;
  • Historically have been labeled as having severe disabilities; and,
  • Are most likely to need on-going, individualized supports in order to participate in inclusive communities and enjoy a quality of life similar to that available to all citizens.
Program Description
TASH is an organization of members concerned with human dignity, civil rights, education, and independence for all individuals with disabilities. We have over thirty chapters and members from thirty-four different countries and territories.

Since our inception in 1975, TASH has gained international acclaim for our uncompromising stand against separatism, stigmatization, abuse and neglect. We actively promote the full inclusion and participation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of life.

TASH believes that no one with a disability should be forced to live, work, or learn in a segregated setting; that all individuals deserve the right to direct their own lives.

Throughout the year TASH offers a number of training opportunities on current topics impacting the disability community. Each training session features leading experts, research and analysis, compelling personal stories and real world examples that participants can use to relate each session to their work or life. Visit the Conferences and Events page to see upcoming training topics.
