ArtMix transforms the lives of people with disabilities through the creation of art.
Program Description
ArtMix is a statewide nonprofit organization that offers a variety of opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to engage the power of the arts as a means of education, creative self-expression, and personal and professional growth. In addition, ArtMix programs promote change in public perceptions and raise public awareness, emphasizing the abilities and accomplishments of people with disabilities. ArtMix programs are delivered by professional Teaching Artists, who are professional artists with specialties in at least one form of art (2-D, ceramics, music, yoga, drama/theatre, and dance/movement). ArtMix Teaching Artists create adaptable lesson plans that are inclusive for people of ALL abilities.

Our core programs include:
  • Community Arts Classes (all ages and abilities)
  • Urban Artisans Transitional Program for teens
  • The Lolly Project in local hospitals
  • Artists in Residence (in schools, camps, and community centers)
  • The ArtMix Gallery (an art gallery featuring emerging works from artists within the disability community)
ArtMix is the state affiliate for VSA, an international education affiliate of the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.
