Mission
Riley Block Family Library supports Indiana University’s philosophy of total family care by providing pediatric patients and their families’ access to materials and services similar to those found in a small public library.
Program Description
The library has an online catalog (http://rileyhospital.mysurpass.net ) as well as an App for our catalog. (Download the app “Library Trek” for your mobile device and connect to the Riley Block Family Library at IU Health). Included in our catalog is consumer medical and support information which the library carries-such as brochures, credible websites and books for parents and children (Kids Care).

We also have books for all ages-Fiction, Non-Fiction, board books, Spanish books, Early Readers, magazines, board games, puzzles, Wii games, movies and CD’s which can all be checked out and taken to the patients rooms.

Inpatients, Outpatients (on the day of a clinic visit) and their families are welcome to use the facilities.

Items that can be used within the library are: TV with a DVD Player for playing a movie from our large collection, 14 computers with printing capabilities, Wii games, Game Cube games, iPads, board games, puzzles, magazines and newspaper.

A librarian will be happy to help you with your reference needs. Please remember to talk with your doctor or healthcare provider about medical information you have found to make sure it is right for you.
