Mission
To provide opportunities for individuals with communication problems to receive individual and group diagnostic evaluations, screenings and therapy services.
Program Description

For children who have difficuty with pragmatic language/ social communication including children with Asperger's Syndrome or on the Autism Sprectrum. Groups are available for 3 different age groups including:

  • Kids CLUB (ages 5-8 years)
  • Tweens CLUB (ages 9-12 years)
  • Teens Club (ages 13-18 years)

*age ranges are approximate and may vary slightly depending on the children participating

Groups meet weekly for 90 minute sessions and are designed to provide opportunities for children and teens with social communication difficulties to interact with peers, to learn and practice skills for social interaction, and to develop friendships. During each session a social concept is targeted throughout the activities of the session including both direct teaching and practice.

Each participant also has individual goals. Sessions are designed to provide opportunities for participants to learn and practice skills during motivating activities.

Skills to be addressed may include (but not be limited to the following):

  • turn-taking,
  • getting another person's attention,
  • conversation,
  • topic maintenance,
  • interruption,
  • patience,
  • cooperation,
  • problem solving,
  • listening,
  • reciprocity,
  • body language,
  • emotions,
  • perspective taking,
  • greetings.
Financial
The cost for groups is $275 per semester for fall and spring semesters, $200 for summer. A sliding fee scale is available for those who qualify based on application
