Parent and Advocate Training - Jan. 25th - Carmel
1/19/2010

PARENT AND ADVOCATE TRAINING SERIES:

The Autism Education and Training Center (AETC) is pleased to announce the first session in Tier Two (Informed). This level of training is essential for any parent or future advocate working with a child with special needs who wants to manage the full individualized educational program for that child with success.

Session 1: Writing Appropriate FBA’s and BIP’s

When:   Monday, January 25, 2010
             6:00 - 8:00pm

Where:  Clarian North Medical Center
              11700 N. Meridian Street, K130
              Carmel, IN 46032

In this session, we will discuss the development of an appropriate Functional Behavior Assessment and how to use the FBA to then develop a successful Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP). These tools are essential components of an appropriate IEP for most children. Many schools do not develop appropriate FBA’s which then leads to frustration for the parent and the child when the resulting BIP is ineffective. Please join us for this informative session presented by Sheila Wolfe, Advocate and Executive Director of the AETC, and Catherine Michael, a local attorney specializing in special education law.

Cost: $28

All participants must register in advance for this seminar at: www.aetcinc.org .
