Due to ASK's lack of funding sources to support our trainings, ASK is required to charge training participant fees to recoup our costs for qualified trainers, travel, printing of information etc. Please find below a few options for families who need financial assistance to cover the cost of the training.
Family Involvement Fund:
The Family Involvement Fund (FIF) provides financial support for family members of children with disabilities (ages 0-5) to help increase knowledge and understanding of their child's disability and/or the systems that provide services. To apply for support for an ASK training, follow these steps:
- Go to www.inf2f.org and submit an application 30 days before the training
- On the application, request a waived registration fee (this will eliminate the need for payment up front)
- Wait for approval from the FIF
- Once approval from the FIF is received, go to www.aboutspecialkids.org and register for the ASK training. There will be an option to select that the training fee has been covered by the FIF.
Local Service Organizations:
Contact your local Lions Club, Kiwanis, or disability-specific organization. These groups may have training funds available for families.
Family & Caregiver Support Training Fund through Waivers:
Funds may be available through the Autism, DD and Support Services Waivers. Contact your case manager to see if these funds are available through your child's waiver.
Special Education: Contact your child’s Director of Special Education. There may be funds available for parent/family training.
Governor's Planning Council:
Training funds for family members or persons with disabilities are available through the Consumer Involvement Fund. These funds are generally used for larger trainings and conferences. For application guidelines, please visit www.in.gov/gpcpd.
