The mission of the American Brain Tumor Association is to advance the understanding and treatment of brain tumors with the goals of improving, extending and, ultimately, saving the lives of those impacted by a brain tumor diagnosis. We do this through interactions and engagements with brain tumor patients and their families, collaborations with allied groups and organizations, and the funding of brain tumor research.
Program Description
Services include publications, which address brain tumors, their treatment, and coping with the disease; these publications are written in easy-to-understand language. Our materials address brain tumors in all age groups and Spanish translations are available. We also provide:
  • information for new brain tumor support group leaders;
  • a nationwide database of established support groups;
  • the Connections online support community; and
  • an award winning Internet site.
The association offers national conferences and educational meetings for patients and their families.

The ABTA also offers the first and only nationwide brain tumor volunteer network, called ABTA CommYOUnity™. By joining the ABTA CommYOUnity™, volunteers are part of a large and growing movement consisting of passionate individuals from across the country working together to make an impact in the brain tumor community. Benefits of joining include matching volunteer activities with interests and flexibility of time.

Single copies of our publications and services are provided to patients and family members free of charge.
The association offers many ways for someone to donate to the organization. For a list of ways to donate, visit
