It is our mission at Anderson Woods to provide summer camp and safe, dignified services for persons with mental and/or physical disabilities. Our goal is to teach individuals (to the maximum extent possible) to be fully functioning members of the local community.
Program Description
Anderson Woods was founded in 1978, and is a private, not-for-profit corporation chartered to provide summer camp experiences, as well as other services, for children and adults with physical and mental disabilities. The founders of Anderson Woods, Judy and David Colby, shared a vision of providing an experience that would foster self-esteem and empower these Special Ones to fulfill the potential within. From 3 campers sleeping in tents the first summer, our camp which spans 175 acres in rural Southern Indiana, now welcomes hundreds of campers of all ages and disabilities who sleep in four cabins each summer.

Our aim is to provide self-confidence, dignity, and choices to persons with disabilities who, too often, are given none. It is with much humility and hope that we walk forward to serve these Special Ones. During our four-day, three-night sessions, campers learn self-confidence, trust and responsibility through working together, caring for animals, tending the garden, and enjoying the beauty of nature. It is an opportunity for them to experience fellowship with other campers and the staff while enjoying such recreational activities as swimming, fishing, hiking, kickball, crafts and more.

Camp is a place where everyone is equal. We embrace all races and spiritual beliefs. Full-time counselors and volunteers work alongside the campers to encourage and empower them to fulfill their maximum potential.

Camp runs for eight weeks in June and July. Three weeks are for children and five weeks are for adults. Fee is $200.00 per session.
Some campership funding available to cover camp fees, depending on need.
