Happier Birth Days: Improving Birth and Health Outcomes for Indiana’s Black Moms and Babies
  • Fact: Indiana’s infant mortality rate is above the national average.
  • Fact: Indiana’s maternal mortality rate is more than double the national average.
Sadly, those rates rise even more for black women and babies in the Hoosier state. Join Side Effects Public Media, the Indiana Minority Health Coalition, and The Indianapolis Recorder in a two part virtual town hall to discuss these issues and how they can be addressed. Discussions will focus on infant mortality, maternal mortality, and breastfeeding in Indiana’s black communities. Part 1 will be concentrate on the prenatal period; Part 2, the postpartum period. Both discussions will be live streamed from YouTube. The link will be emailed to registrants a day beforehand; watch from your desk, home, conference room, or wherever you will be. IMHC affiliates will be holding watch parties around the state. We will update this page with those locations soon.

Each discussion will begin with a 60 minute panel conversation, followed by 30 minutes of Q&A with viewers. Feel free to email your questions for the panel beforehand to rrockel@wfyi.org.

When:  Tuesday, December 11th & Tuesday, January 8th
