There are two purposes of the Butler Clinic. Our clinic is a teaching clinic in which jr and sr level students provide services to the community under the supervision of licensed and credentialed staff. We have a Butler Early Language and Literacy Preschool program along with our both a speech/language and audiology clinic. Please contact us for more information about any of our programs.

Our purposes: First and foremost, the clinic serves those individuals who experience difficulties with communication. Secondly, the clinic provides an educational experience for students who are interested in the professions of speech-language pathology or audiology.
Program Description
General Information
  • Clinicians change schedules and rotate working with different clients on a regular basis. Clients may have a different clinician every semester. The purpose of this is to allow clinicians to have a variety of experiences in their educational program.
  • An observation room is provided for parents, siblings, and/or spouses. Student clinicians are observed regularly by their supervisors. In addition, other students who are majoring in speech-language pathology may observe the treatment sessions.
  • The clinic respects the confidentiality of client records. Permission slips for video and/or audio taping of therapy sessions or for the releasing of information must be obtained from the responsible party.
  • The Butler Speech-Language clinic observes the same holiday and vacation schedules as the University. In the event of bad weather, the clinic will follow the Butler University decision regarding closing.

Therapy Sessions: Clinicians and clients meet together for therapy one to two sessions per week. The length of the session varies to accommodate the client and ranges from 30-60 minutes.

The Butler Early Language & Literacy {or “BELL”} class is designed for children ages 3–5 with language delays, although typically-developing children are also welcome. It focuses on teaching language and early literacy skills for all students, instructed by a seasoned teacher and Butler students focusing in speech-language pathology.
The fee for one semester of therapy sessions, scheduled one time a week, is $200. If the semester fee is paid by the second week of therapy, you will receive a 10% discount. If you prefer, you may pay $20 per session, payable after each session.
