Mission
To encourage and facilitate open communication for people and families dealing with 5P-/Cri du Chat Syndrome and to spread awareness and provide valuable information, education and support for families, educators, and medical professionals.
Program Description
The 5P- society is a support organization that works diligently to spread awareness of the syndrome and provides valuable information, education and support for families, educators, and medical professionals in order to maximize the quality of life for those with 5p- Syndrome.

5p-Syndrome is characterized in infants by a high, shrill, mewing, kitten-like cry that fades in later infancy. Other abnormalities are present. Birth weight usually is low, and grow this slow. Almost all patients are microcephalic and mentally deficient. 5p- Syndrome is a spectrum and is characterized at birth by a high pitched (kitten-like) cry, low birth weight, poor muscle tone, and microcephaly (small head). Many with 5P- may have significant cognitive and developmental delays and potential medical complications.
