Disaster Communication Seminar for Individuals with Disabilities

The IMPD Homeland Security Bureau is conducting a disaster communications seminar for individuals with disabilites.  The goal of this seminar is to provide practical effective communcation techniques for people with disabilites to communicate with others during a disaster.  Each person's needs and abilities are unique, however, every individual can take important steps to prepare for all kinds of disasters and put plans in place.

One of the most important functions in a disaster is communication.  This seminar is designed to educate participants on how to effectively communicate with first responders during a disaster.  In this seminar, you will learn what services are available and what agencies are doing to help people with disabilites prepare for a disaster before it happens.

Information is the most valuable commodity during emergiencies or disasters.  It is an essential aspect in an organizations decision making process.  Above all, it is necessary for rapid and effective assistance for those affected by a disaster.
